Heleen Vermeulen: “It’s fantastic that we can now get started! We are proud of our contribution to both the cultural and social landscape. This amount allows us to begin preparations. We are confident that we will also receive support from other funders, including the Municipality of Nijmegen, so that we can realize our future plans and move forward together toward a visibly better world.”

Jonne Arnoldussen from the VriendenLoterij explains the importance of this support: “Culture is the foundation of our society, not a hobby or pastime. A strong society needs a powerful cultural sector, and that is why we wholeheartedly support it. It’s fantastic that, thanks to our loyal participants, we can support both muSEEum and the Leerorkest. We look forward to all the activities they will be able to realize with these contributions.”

A new permanent exhibition

muSEEum offers an inspiring insight into the world of blind and visually impaired people, with the belief that an inclusive society becomes reality more quickly when more people see the possibilities.

The goal is to increase the number of visitors from 40,000 to 65,000 per year by 2028. To achieve this, a permanent exhibition will be added to the existing offerings. Accessibility will be improved, and the visitor experience will be enhanced. This will make muSEEum more accessible to a wider and more diverse audience, securing the museum’s future.

€143.5 million for culture and well-being in the Netherlands

In 2023, the VriendenLoterij contributed €143.5 million to cultural partners. Thanks to the lottery participants, at least 40% of the proceeds from each ticket go to good causes and cultural partners.
