muZIEum and Accessibility: Together on the path to an accessible workplace.

Through our collaboration with Accessibility, an expert in accessibility, we have implemented two accessible systems at muZIEum. With these systems, we are taking important steps in our mission to create a more inclusive society where everyone has equal opportunities and rights to participate independently.

muSEEum is continuously working on improving accessibility in the workplace. Thanks to our collaboration with Accessibility, two new systems have been implemented. These systems not only professionalize the back office but are also specifically designed with accessibility in mind for blind and visually impaired employees.

We are very excited about this development because finding systems that provide the desired functionalities and are accessible to blind and visually impaired users is a challenge. Accessibility has tested systems from various suppliers for accessibility according to the WCAG 2.1 guidelines, allowing us to carefully select the two systems.

Colleague Fleur: "I’m incredibly happy with my job at muZIEum, where I have a dynamic and challenging role. I’m proud to work here despite my poor vision. My poor vision actually makes what I do stronger. It’s great to work in an environment where everyone understands each other and collaborates towards an accessible workplace."

Recently, the planning and reservation systems have been adjusted, allowing blind and visually impaired colleagues to easily view their work schedules, enter their hours, and check them. While these things might seem obvious, they become much more difficult for blind and visually impaired individuals if digital accessibility is not considered during the development of systems. With the introduction of these systems, they can now make a full contribution to our team.

Colleague Fleur: "I have had a lot of contact with consultants from Accessibility and the developers of the systems: Ovatic and Symagic. Step by step, we looked at the desired functionalities and how these could be made accessible for blind and visually impaired people, so that everyone can carry out the primary tasks within the work independently."

Digital accessibility is an ongoing process, where new developments and advice play a role. Therefore, we continue to collaborate with Accessibility in the further development of our systems with different suppliers. Through this collaboration, we demonstrate how we can learn from each other and utilize each other's expertise to create a more inclusive and accessible organization, where equal opportunities for blind and visually impaired people are at the core. This way, they too can experience the great value of work and make a meaningful contribution to society.
